Daniel L. Sonnenberg, Global Instructor for Timothy Two Project International in Latin America
We train pastors
A seminary professor once challenged his first-year students. He asked them this question: “How many of you have completed one course in Bible or theology?” Most of the students raised their hands. He declared: “You already have more training than 90% of the pastors in the world!”
This is why Timothy Two exists. It provides essential training to pastors in the Majority World. These pastors don’t have access to formal education.
We train pastors to train others
Paul instructed Timothy to teach others to teach (2 Timothy 2:2). This is at the heart of our mission. We not only teach the pastors. We also teach them how to take what they learn and teach it in their churches. They can then share it with their communities, as well.
We train leaders of ancillary ministries
We train pastors and teach them to train others. We apply the same methods across various ministries within local churches throughout the Majority World. This approach includes, but is not limited to, children’s ministry.
In so doing, we hope to bring solid, foundational training to every facet of the local church. This aims to realize Christ’s mandate in the Great Commission.
The certificates
We award a certificate after the final workshop in the four-part Timothy Two series. Each participant receives a certificate. Below are examples of certificates in various languages.

To avoid confusion, we changed the name of the series in Spanish. The change was from “Growing in Grace” to “Biblical and Theological Fundamentals.” Some participants were aware of a cult by the name of Growing in Grace (Creciendo en Gracia). This cult was based in Miami, FL and was led by Puerto Rican Pastor José Luis de Jesús Miranda.
The certificate presentation
Each workshop group decides how the certificates are awarded. Below are some examples of certificate presentations.

A photo of the group with their certificates was not available. Instead, we are using a photo in which they are holding a copy of the workbook.
Testimonials from workshop participants in the Dominican Republic
This workshop helped me to see and understand sanctification more deeply.
Now I know detailed things about the glorification of God.
One of the three things that impacted me most was the lesson on justification.
The teaching on the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the filling of the Holy Spirit took me out of lots of confusion.
I used to be unsatisfied when I went to evangelize because no one accepted Jesus. The lesson on effective calling helped me to understand the role of the Holy Spirit in a person’s conversion.
I congratulate the International Director and also the organization of Timothy Two for their support. This is the type of workshop that the churches need nowadays to serve our God much better. We will keep praying that God will provide more resources for the next workshop.
