BRAZIL. I recently traveled to Fortaleza, Brazil to teach Workshop 1, “Knowing God” in partnership with SIBIMA – SeminĆ”rio e Instituto BĆblico Maranata (Maranata Biblical Seminary and Institute).

How this workshop series began
This series was initiated after we met Jefferson and Matheus at a conference in Panama last November. They invited me to come and arranged for the group to use rooms in the local seminary where they teach.

What happened during this workshop
We began each lesson by reading the text of the lesson together and answering the Review Questions as they occurred throughout the lessons as seen below.

Then we discussed the Application Questions at the end of each lesson either together as a single group like that below.

Or we discussed the questions in smaller groups like these below.

The result of those discussions took many forms. Sometimes, the result was a song (below left) or a drama presentation (below right) to illustrate the topic of the lesson.

Sometimes the result took the form of a debate (below left) or a panel discussion (below right) to deepen understanding of the lesson.

Sometimes the result was displayed graphically then explained orally as seen below.

When the topic was more personal or required a longer explanation such as a testimony, the discussion took place one on one as seen below.

Finally, the Assignment at the end of each lesson was discussed to prepare them to teach the lesson to others. Most participants said they are planning to use the workshop to train the leaders in their churches when they return home. Several participants traveled 11 hours by car to attend the workshop.
