Networks for Timothy Two Instructors Serving in Latin America

Daniel L. Sonnenberg, Global Instructor with Timothy Two Project International in Latin America and the Caribbean

While serving as Timothy Two’s Latin America Regional Director, I developed two Instructors’ networks. These networks met bimonthly via Zoom to connect the Instructors working in the region. One network was called the Latin American Missionaries (LAM) Network. The other was called the Global Instructors in Latin America (GILA) Network.

Latin American Missionaries (LAM) Network

This group consisted of Instructors living in various Latin American countries. They have taught, and are teaching, Timothy Two workshops in various cities within their own countries and primarily speak Spanish. See a photo of one of our meetings below.

Global Instructors in Latin America (GILA) Network

This group was made up of U.S. based Instructors. They have taught, and are teaching, Timothy Two workshops in various countries throughout Latin America and speak primarily English. See a photo of one of our meetings below.

The purpose of the network groups

The primary purpose of the groups is mutual encouragement and sharing experiences about planning and teaching workshops and travel.

The method of the groups

The method is essentially the same for both groups. Although, I included an interpreter when I met with the Latin American Missionaries group.

Each group met every other month via Zoom for one hour. During the meetings, the participants did two primary things: 1) gave reports and 2) prayed for one another.

  1. Reports. Each participant reports on workshops they have recently taught. They tell when and where the workshops were held. They report what they learned while planning and teaching the workshops. Additionally, they tell what they have learned about traveling to the workshop locations. After that, each participant gives a report on their upcoming workshops. And they report any concerns they have about past or future workshops.
  2. Prayer. In the second part of the meeting, each participant shares their prayer requests with the group. Then they pray for one another.

Conclusion

The participants of both groups have appreciated opportunities to speak face to face with others. The network meetings have connected Instructors working in similar missionary fields and teaching the same workshops. They have encouraged one another by sharing helpful tips on planning and teaching as well as tips about travel. And they have blessed one another by sharing prayer requests and praying for each other. The result has been mutual learning, support and edification.
