Retirement Recap: A Decade of Global Instruction with Timothy Two Project International

This is Our Tenth and Final Year as Full-Time Global Missionaries

This year marks a special milestone—ten years of ministry with Timothy Two Project InternationalAs we pause to reflect, our hearts are full of gratitude for every opportunity God has provided. By His sustaining grace, we have taught 90 workshops with 43 different groups across 15 countries. Along the way, we’ve had the joy of meeting, knowing, and working with 632 wonderful workshop participants, 8 interns, many gifted interpreters, and 18 dedicated National Missionary Partners whom we trained and sent to teach in 13 countries. Truly, the Lord has done great things, and we give Him all the glory.

Now at ages 71 and 69, we have prayerfully come to the decision that 2025 will be our final year of full-time service as Global Missionaries. This moment is bittersweet. Our journey has taken us to many remarkable places and blessed us with the joy of meeting hundreds of beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, making it especially hard to say goodbye. Yet, it is not farewell forever—only until we meet again.

Your encouragement and love during this journey have meant more to us than words can express. We are especially thankful for you—our many “partners in the gospel”—whose faithful support and trust have made this extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity possible.

This final post serves as a reflection on how God has worked through these years of ministry and how He has used your prayers and support to make it all possible.

Below, you’ll find photos that capture the diversity of those we’ve equipped over the past decade—from passionate pastors to energetic children’s ministry leaders—alongside vibrant glimpses of the unforgettable places and landscapes that shaped each journey.

Internship in Southeast Asia

Country: Myanmar

City: Mandalay, Myanmar

Our journey began in early 2016 with an internship that marked the start of this ministry adventure. I (Dan) traveled with our International Director, Steve Curtis, to Southeast Asia to observe him teaching a group of pastors in Vietnam. From there, we continued on to Myanmar, where I taught my very first workshop with the group pictured below.

Pastors in Mandalay

Mandalay Palace, or the “Great Golden Royal Palace,” is the last royal residence of the Burmese monarchy. It was constructed between 1857 and 1859 under King Mindon as part of his establishment of Mandalay as the new royal capital.

Serving in Latin America

After my internship, Beth began accompanying me to train children’s ministry leaders while I trained pastors and other leaders. Because we both had previous experience in Latin America—mine in Guatemala and Anguilla, and Beth’s in Argentina—we chose, and were assigned, to serve our remaining years in that region.

The region has been divided into four subregions—North America, the Caribbean Islands, Central America, and South America—with photos organized below by subregion, progressing from north to south.

North America

Country: USA

 City: Florence, South Carolina

I (Dan) taught only one workshop in North America. The workshop participants were Hispanic members of the International Ministry at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Florence

How You Can Help Our Ministry Continue

A message from International Director, Steve Curtis, upon our retirement,

After a decade of tirelessly working in Latin America, Dan and Beth Sonnenberg are retiring from Timothy Two Project International (TTPI) as full-time missionaries! God has used Dan and Beth in a mighty way and none of that would have been possible without your generous donations to support this ministry. Although Dan and Beth will be moving into retirement, the work they have begun has grown and is continuing at TTPI.

We would ask that you prayerfully consider continuing your support for Dan and Beth’s ministry by redesignating your gift to the Latin America fund. Detailed instructions are below. The need for Jesus Christ in Latin America is great and the men and women that Dan and Beth have trained are eager to boldly teach local pastors in sound biblical theology so they can minister to their flocks and spread the gospel. We are so grateful for all that you have done for this ministry and look forward to what God has in store for Latin America. If you choose to redesignate your gift, rest assured that you will continue to receive regular newsletters with updates on the progress of these NMPs’ work.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHANGING GIFTS TO THE LATIN AMERICA FUND

Online Gifts-  Please go to the website at https://www.timothytwo.org and click on the Donate button on the top right of the home screen. There will be a white box that states: Type Missionary or Project Name. Type in “Latin America”. You will see a pink Donate button under the phrase “Donate to the fund for Latin America”. You will be sent to a page where you will input all your necessary personal information and you can decide whether you want your online gift to be paid by credit card or ACH. You also have the option to set your gift up as a recurring gift. If you currently have a recurring gift to the Sonnenberg fund that you are replacing with this new gift to the Latin America fund, please email Cheryl Marks at cheryl@timothytwo.org and we will delete your old recurring gift for you.

Bank Bill Pay- This is always a great option because your bank will process and mail your checks at no charge to you. If you are currently giving to the Sonnenbergs using Bank Bill Pay, please contact your bank to simply change the memo line from Sonnenberg to Latin America.

Personal Check- Please indicate on the memo line that your gift is for Latin America.

If you have any issues or questions, please feel free to contact Cheryl Marks at cheryl@timothytwo.org and we will be happy to help you.

At this season we celebrate the birth of our Savior. We have joy because Jesus came… We have hope because He’s coming again.

May that joy and hope be yours …not just for a season but in each day of your life.

Merry Christmas, and may God richly bless you in the coming New Year!

With love and gratitude,

Dan & Beth
